Cate’s girls water polo team was defeated by Foothill Tech 17-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
Down a few players due to illness and never quite finding their rhythm, the Rams fell into an early hole that they were never able to climb out of according to Cate head coach Nathan Alldredge.
“The good news is that the match showed a few obvious defensive fixes that we need to make, and we will come back stronger,” Alldredge said.
The Dragons’ counterattack was fast and furious, with goals coming from several different players to provide multiple scoring threats. Foothill’s defense put on a clinic as well, limiting the Rams’ scoring opportunities.
Only the Satterfield sisters of senior co-captain Anna and sophomore Ally could muster any offense, scoring one goal each for Cate.
With the loss, the Rams fall to 2-3 overall (1-1 league) on the season. Cate takes to the road to face Malibu on Friday.
