Carpinteria’s girls water polo team was defeated by Foothill Tech 17-11 in a in the Tri-Valley League matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
The Dragons showed impressive speed on the counter-attack, helping them build a commanding 12-4 lead at the break. Despite a second-half rally from the Warriors, the team was unable to overcome the large halftime deficit.
Brenda Rodriguez, led Carpinteria with five goals and five assists. Elena Benidze chipped in with five steals and a solid defensive effort in the latter half.
With the defeat, the Warriors fall to 3-1 in the Tri-Valley League. Carpinteria travels on the road to face Cate on Friday.
