Santa Barbara sailor Evan Heffernan and partner Jacob Rosenberg of Newport Beach took first place in the 29er Class at the Open Orange Bowl Regatta in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Heffernan and Rosenberg won five of seven races in the international competition that was contested Dec. 26-30 in South Florida. They took second and fourth in the other two races. A total of 15 boats competed in the division.
Heffernan is a junior at Santa Barbara High.
