The San Marcos girls water polo team dominated both of their games during the first day of the Villa Park Tournament on Thursday.
The Royals kicked off the day in a matchup against Long Beach Poly and prevailed 16-5. Paige Hauschild led the team with six goals while Piper Smith tallied three.
Hauschild and Brittany Prentice combined to score 16 goals at eight apiece en route to a 22-10 victory over Palos Verdes. Hauschild also made a big impact on the defensive side of the ball as she snatched away six steals. Jamie Stryker contributed four goals of her own.
Freshman goal keeper Sophie Trumbull had an impressive showing, as she finished with 13 blocks on the day.
The Royals improve to 3-0 and will continue their march through the Villa Park Tournament on Friday.
