Paige Hauschild scored nine times in San Marcos’ girls water polo season opener on Friday, a 14-5 win over Edison.
Hauschild had nine goals, seven steals, an assist and two drawn ejections. Brittany Prentice was also a force with three goals, four assists, two steals and four drawn ejections.
“I thought Paige played very smart and found her opportunities well. I was more impressed with her steals. I thought she was great defensively,” reported Royals head coach Chuckie Roth. “Brittany Prentice also played very well.”
Kate Coski and Megan Berthold also scored for the Royals. Riley Heiduk had three assists.
San Marcos (1-0) plays next on Thursday at the Villa Park Tournament.
