Carpinteria’s girls water polo team defeated Santa Maria 11-7 in a non-league matchup on Tuesday afternoon.
The Warriors scored first and never trailed throughout the contest, anchored by a strong defensive effort by senior co-captains Sierra Garibay and Allison Wagner. The pair who combined for ten steals and five assists respectively.
Carpinteria goalkeeper Nicole Poulos made 17 saves to help preserve the victory. The offense was led by another strong game from junior Brenda Rodriguez who netted five goals, with Maya Grant and Kimmy Methmann rounding out the Warrior’s scoring.
