Freshman attacker Shane Hauschild was the only Gaucho to be named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all conference team this season. The San Marcos alum led UCSB in goal scoring with 32 goals.
The 6-5 attacker not only scored, but also created chances for his teammates. Hauschild placed second on the team with 20 assists behind senior Brendan McElroy with 30.
The highlight of the season came during this year’s KAP7 NorCal Tournament against then ranked No. 5 Long Beach State. Defeating the 49ers in a sudden death, 14-13 match, the freshman attacker led the Gaucho offense with four goals.
A two sport athlete as the freshman will also be competing in volleyball for the Gauchos, Hauschild made his mark, not only as a key member for UCSB but also as a legitimate force in the MPSF.
