Bryan Snyder scored three goals in the final period, but it wasn’t enough for UCSB as Pepperdine hung on to beat the Gauchos 9-7 in a MPSF men’s water polo match at Campus Pool.
Down 8-4, Snyder brought the Gauchos back to within one with 14 seconds left. UCSB pressured Pepperdine in hopes of getting the ball back. But the Waves lobbed the ball into an empty goal to end the game.
Snyder led the Gauchos in scoring. Senior Ryan Baliani, playing his final home match of his Gaucho career, had two goals for UCSB. Junior Nicholas Jordan and freshman Shane Hauschild each contributed with one goal apiece.
UCSB falls to 9-12 overall and 0-7 in the MPSF. Pepperdine is 10-11, 2-5.
