GVB: Wilson named Channel League MVP

Senior outside hitter Anika Wilson of San Marcos was named the Most Valuable Player of the All-Channel League girls volleyball team.

The Pepperdine-bound Wilson led the Royals to a share of the league title with Santa Barbara and Ventura and to the CIF Division 1A quarterfinals.

San Marcos placed two players on the first team, sisters Emily and Chloe Allen. Emily, a senior, is headed to UC Davis, while Chloe, a junior, has committed to UCSB.

Santa Barbara junior Lourda Weger and Dos Pueblos senior McKenna Goss also were named to the first team. Goss signed with Boston College.

Ventura’s Debbie Litten was named the coach of the year.
