We have a winner for Presidio Sports’ Channel League Football Pick ’em Contest.

Emilio Gonzalez, a former player at Santa Barbara High, correctly predicted the winners in 9-of-10 Channel League games. You can’t blame him for the only one he missed: Gonzalez picked his Dons to beat San Marcos in the Big Game.

In fact, of the 37 entries, only three picked San Marcos to defeat rival Santa Barbara. The Royals, who hadn’t won a Big Game since 2009, proved the doubters wrong with a 27-20 victory over the Dons.

Gonzalez was one of only five who chose San Marcos over Dos Pueblos in the Battle of the Goodland.

Gonzalez receives a $25 gift certificate to Paradise Cafe for winning the contest.

Each contestant entered their predictions for all 10 Channel League games before the season started. After Gonzalez, four picked 8 games correctly, eight got 7 games right, 14 with 6, nine with 5, and one with 4.

Ventura won the Channel League championship with a 4-0 record. Buena was second at 3-1, followed by San Marcos at 2-2. Santa Barbara was 1-3 and Dos Pueblos 0-4.
