XC: Dayton, Schroeder win Mt. SAC races for Royals

Kendra Dayton and Erica Schroeder each won grade-based races at the Mt. SAC Invitational on Friday for San Marcos’ cross country team, while Adilene Aldapa, Elsa Robertson and Logan Briner just missed with runner-up results.

Dayton won the Division 3 freshman girls race in 21 minutes and 24 seconds while Schroeder dominated the sophomore girls race with a time of 19:19. Both runners led the Royals to team victories in freshman and sophomore girls competitions.

Robertson, in second, and Emily Pearlman, in sixth, scored in the sophomore race.

San Marcos’ freshman and sophomore boys teams netted second-place team finishes. Briner led the sophomores with a time of 16:57. Jason Peterson’s third-place result in the freshman race came with a time of 17:48.
