Maddie Brooks had three goals and four steals on Wednesday and AJ Gravatt added three goals for SBCC as the Vaqueros capped their WSC season with an 11-5 victory over Citrus at San Marcos High.
It was the sixth straight win and final home game for the Vaqueros (12-10, 5-1). SBCC finished second in the WSC in its first season of water polo and was a perfect 3-0 at home.
Rocio Fesembeck, the WSC scoring leader with 80 goals, added two goals, three steals and four drawn ejections for Santa Barbara, which led 5-2 at halftime.
“I am proud of our team and where we are today,” said coach Chuckie Roth. “I told them we have overcome so much and at some moment, there would be a breaking point and we would not break.
“Kaitlyn Wentz Fitzgerald (1 goal, 2 steals, 3 drawn ejections) played with a so much heart and was a true recognizable force in this game.”
The Vaqueros are playing four games in a three-day span. They’ll play a 3 p.m. game at Saddleback on Thursday, then play two games in the Fullerton Tournament on Friday against Fullerton and Mt. San Antonio
