Six-time national champion USC erupted for seven unanswered goals and rolled to a 14-5 win over UCSB in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s water polo match on Saturday in Los Angeles.
UCSB got on the scoreboard first on a goal by Chase Racich. Then fourth-ranked USC went on the attack. The Trojans converted on three 6-on-5 opportunities during their run.
The Gauchos tallied their second score of the match with a 6-on-5 goal from junior Kevin Cappon. USC (12-2, 2-0) answered with four more goals to make the score, 11-2.
UCSB (8-3, 0-1) is back home Sunday to face Long Beach State at noon.
