A San Marcos comeback fell short against visiting Servite, and the Royals lost 15-14 on Friday in a non-league boys water polo match.
San Marcos was blanked 6-0 in the second quarter and trailed 12-4 at halftime. The Royals regrouped in the second half and almost caught the Friars at the end.
“We fought back really well, and Jesse Morrison scored six second-half goals to give us a chance to tie it at the end of the game,” San Marcos coach Jeff Ashton said.
Morrison led the Royals with seven goals, while Kameron Bebb, Spencer Wood and George Kuesis each scored two.
San Marcos is 11-6 and returns to Channel League play Tuesday at Ventura
