The Rams’ water polo team came out with an early lead against Nordhoff but was unable to hold on in a 17-14 decision on Thursday.
Zach Allen and Alex Brown combined to score ten of Cate’s 14 goals at five apiece. With some key outside shots and crucial counterattacks, the Rangers were able to spur a 9-2 run late in the game.
The Rams battled back with a 5-0 run of their own but it was too little too late.
Cate was playing its second match in two days following a 17-7 victory over Foothill Tech on Wednesday. Allen led the team with seven goals in that match.
Cate now falls to 5-3 in league and 1-3 in league. The Rams will travel to Ojai on Wednesday as they face Villanova.
