XC: Wasjutin, Rice lead pack in Charger wins

Dos Pueblos’ cross country teams secured victories at the Righetti Invitational on Saturday with a bevy of top-10 finishes. Both teams won with 38 points.

Christina Rice’s second place in the varsity girls race was the Chargers’ best individual result. Chris Wasjutin came in 4th in the boys race. Each of Dos Pueblos’ top finishers were followed close behind by their teammates.

Hunter Clark claimed sixth overall for the boys team, then freshman Josh McGregor in 7th and junior Nathan Alvarez in 10th. Junior Jeremiah McElwee’s 11th place rounded out DP’s scoring.

Tatianna Schluep’s fifth place in 19:18.80 was the girls team’s second-best result. Natalie McClure (6th in 19:22.9), Elaine McClure (7th in 19:23.6), and Joanna Zukin (18th in 21:09.6) completed the girls’ scoring.

The girls bested Templeton (56), Cabrillo (62), Nipomo (73) and three other schools.

The boys bettered Cabrillo (48), Rigetti (82) and six other schools.

Dos Pueblos competes next at the second Channel League Meet this Wednesday.
