The SBCC women’s water polo team is getting closer and closer to posting the first victory in school history.
The Vaqueros (0-4) suffered two heartbreaking losses on Saturday on the final day of the Cypress Charger Invitational. They lost to Orange Coast 8-6 and were edged by Cypress 15-14.
Maddie Brooks had two goals and two steals in the opener. Rocio Fesembeck added a goal, five steals and drew two ejections.
Against the host school, Fesembeck erupted for a season-high six goals on eight shots and drew four ejections. Autumn Lovettt had four goals and Brooks added three. The Vaqueros scored six times in the second quarter and trailed by just one at halftime, 11-10.
Goalie Alex Brown recorded 12 saves in the Cypress match.
SBCC will play four games in the Central Coast Invitational at Cuesta. On Friday, they’ll take on Diablo Valley at 11:10 a.m. and Santa Monica at 2:25 p.m. in San Luis Obispo.
