GTen: Santa Ynez overpowers Cate

Cate suffered its first girls tennis loss of the season, falling to Santa Ynez 15-3 in a non-league match on Friday.

“Santa Ynez won with impressive depth, going from strength to strength, even in substitutions. They deserve a lot of credit, also, because their players knew their roles well,” said Cate coach Trevor Thorpe.

Cecelia Sanborn earned the lone singles win for Cate, while doubles combos Summer Christensen/Kate Dehlendorf and Emma Liberman/Pharibe Pope each took a set.

Cate falls to 2-1 overall, with Santa Ynez improving to 8-2 on the season. Cate will next line up for its first Tri-Valley League match on Tuesday at home against Nordhoff.
