GTen: Dons have too much firepower for Dos Pueblos

Santa Barbara High’s dominating play in singles paced the Dons to a 15-3 romp over Dos Pueblos in a Channel League girls tennis match on Thursday.

The Dons (3-0, 2-0 in league) won all nine sets, with Mattea Kilstofte and Madison Hale going 3-0, Summer Garrison 2-0 and Mackenzie Monroe 1-0. Kilstofte didn’t lose a game in her three sets.

The team of Marianna Alevra-Maddie Cuttler went 3-0 to pace Santa Barbara in doubles.

The loss was the first for Dos Pueblos (4-1, 3-1).

“This was an important win for us as we knew that Dos Pueblos was our closest challenger within the Channel League,” Dons coach Greg Tebbe said. “I am pleased with the way our girls played focused tennis from start to finish. That is the type of effort we need to build on if we want to compete with the top teams in CIF.”
