Saralisa Ortega shot 80 on a hot Monday at the Santa Barbara Golf Club, leading SBCC to a second-place finish in WSC No. 2.
The players battled temperatures that reached the low 90s. Canyons won their second straight WSC tourney with 326 strokes, followed by SBCC at 348 and Citrus at 368. Lexandra So of Citrus was the medalist at 3-over 75.
Ortega finished in fourth place. Sara Pettersson shot 87 for the Vaqueros and Tiffany Huang had a 90.
“It was a tough day physically because of the heat,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “My biggest concern was keeping the players hydrated.”
WSC No. 3 is set for Monday, Sept. 22 at Knollwood Country Club in Granada Hills.
