The offense started early and often for Cate during an absolute demolition of Hueneme 21-3. Eight different players found the back of the net for the Rams, led by junior Alex Brown’s seven goals.
“Brown has been on a tear the last three games, scoring from inside and out,” said Cate head coach Nathan Alldredge. “With the offense finding its rhythm early, the team’s defense is also slowly coming together as well.”
Zack Allen’s four goals opened up the counterattack right from the first whistle. The senior captain contributed to the Rams getting a quick 11-0 lead before the Vikings got on the board.
Sam Kim, Julian Maes, Christian Herman, and Malachi Schrager all tallied two goals each for Cate. Schrager’s first varsity goals drew high praise from Coach Alldredge. Juniors Jake Dexter-Meldrum and Duffy Montgomery completed the scoring with a goal.
Throughout the game, there were numerous steals in the backcourt and junior goalie Sam Furmanski had a few great saves to keep the Vikings at bay.
Cate now stands at 3-0 overall on the season. The Rams play next Wednesday, traveling up to Santa Maria to face Pioneer Valley.
