Santa Barbara High’s water polo team clashed with Bishop Alemany and Buena on the first day of the Conejo Classic, coming out on top in both matches.
The Dons defeated Bishop Alemany 14-10 and Buena 11-6. Santa Barbara faces Glendale on Saturday in its first game.
Senior Chris Bartholomew scored a career-high six goals in the tournament opener. Freshman Evan Blix scored twice in the same game – his high school debut.
In the second game, Sawyer Rhodes and Chris Gaffney led the Dons in scoring with four and three goals, respectively. Adam Gross’ five assists and four steals also made a large impact against Buena.
Justyn Barrios defended the cage for Santa Barbara, collecting 22 saves in the two games.
