Miles Cole scored six times and Spencer Wood added four more in San Marcos’ 12-6 season-opening victory at Arroyo Grande on Thursday.
“Today was a good start to our season,” said Royals head coach Jeff Ashton. “I was really pleased with our intensity and defense. Miles (Cole) played a great game at center and George Kuesis led our team with five assists.”
San Marcos led 5-4 at halftime and extended the lead to 8-6 at the end of the third quarter. Goalie Jack Palmer, who had nine saves, and the Royals defense shut out AG in the final period.
Jesse Morrison and Kameron Bebb scored once each to fill out San Marcos’ score sheet.
The Royals (1-0) travel to play in the Conejo Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
