BWP: Chargers beat Laguna, fall to Foothill

An 11-10 victory over Laguna Beach highlighted Dos Pueblos’ final day at the South Coast Tournament as the Chargers defeated the Breakers 11-10 before falling to Foothill by the same 11-10 score in their finale.

Laguna Beach is the No. 1 team in Division 3. The Chargers, the No. 5 team in Division 2, took an 11-10 lead into the fourth quarter and the defense held firm. Kyle Krutenat totaled three stops in the fourth quarter and 10 in the game.

Five goals from Blake Parrish and four from Jake Griffin led Dos Pueblos in scoring.

Parrish, who added another eight goals in the second game, piled up 35 goals in five games at the tournament. For the season, Parrish has 91 in 13 games.

The Chargers gave Foothill, the No. 1 team in Division 2, all it could handle in the ninth-place game.

After falling behind early, Dos Pueblos trailed 5-3 at halftime and closed the gap to 8-7 going into the final quarter. The Chargers managed to draw even at 10-10 but Foothill got the game winner with a minute to go on a 6-on-5.

Taylor Gustason scored in both games for Dos Pueblos.

Dos Pueblos is off until its Channel League opener on October 7 when the Chargers host Buena at Elings Aquatics Center.
