2014 Santa Barbara Invitational – Boys Water Polo

The 2014 Santa Barbara Boys Water Polo Invitational, which begins this Thursday, has expanded to 24 teams and three days in its fourth year.

What hasn’t changed is that the tournament features many of the top teams in the CIF Southern Section. Among them will be Mater Dei, which will be seeking its fourth-straight SB Invitational tournament championship.

Mater Dei, Harvard-Westlake, Laguna Beach and Loyola hold the top seeds. Harvard-Westlake, Mater Dei and Loyola are the top-three ranked teams in Division 1 in that order. Laguna Beach, Division 3’s No. 1 team, is in Group C with Newport Harbor, Dana Hills, Cathedral Catholic, Acalanes and San Marcos.

The top two teams in each group receive byes on Thursday and will play their first matches on Friday.

The host schools are Santa Barbara High, San Marcos High and Dos Pueblos High. Dos Pueblos and San Marcos get started on Thursday while Santa Barbara – originally slated to face Agoura on Thursday – will now begin tournament play on Friday.

The championship will be decided on Saturday at Santa Barbara High in a match scheduled for 2:25 p.m.  Presidio Sports will update this page with scores as we get them.
