O’Donnell is new director for SBVC

Kolby O’Donnell has been appointed the director of the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club, the club announced Tuesday.

O’Donnell is an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the UCSB women’s volleyball program. He previously worked in coaching, organization and player development positions at the University of Miami and Appalachian State.

“His experience at the college level from recruiting and practice planning skills to designing strategies which prepare a team for competition will add a new level of excitement to our club,” said Cindy Cattaneo, president of the Board of Directors. “We are thrilled to add valuable new talent to our club as we continue the great tradition of successful volleyball in our community.”

K.C. Collins will remain in the position of Administrator for SBVC, a position she has held since 1999.

The board also announced that Ryan Walthall will take the position of Assistant Club Director and Matt Jones will be the Director of Boys Volleyball. Walthall is also an assistant coach with the UCSB women’s team. His role will include coaching, assisting, planning and implementation of the girls travel club program.

Jones, the men’s volleyball coach at Santa Barbara City College, will oversee tryouts, team selection, and coaching for the boys programs.

The Santa Barbara Volleyball Club is a non-profit organization that offers programs throughout the year for youth athletes ages 8-18, including travel and non-travel teams, camps, clinics and workshops.
