Foresters squeeze out a win in SLO

Cole Atwood’s squeeze bunt scored A.J. Balta from third base in the ninth inning, lifting the Santa Barbara Foresters to a 4-3 win over the San Luis Obispo Blues on Thursday night at Sinshimer Park.

Atwood also made a huge defensive play in the eighth inning. With the score tied at 3, the right fielder threw out a runner who was trying to advance from first to third on a single. Foresters third baseman Grant Davis made the tag on the Blues’ Taylor Anderson.

The Foresters jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on two-out double by Dillon Dobson. Ford Stainback drove in two runs with a single in the seventh.

Jon Duplantier pitched six scoreless innings for the Foresters. He allowed three hits and struck out nine.

The Foresters improve to 13-3 and 11-3 in the California Collegiate League.
