Golf Tournament benefits Hope School District

Santa Barbara’s Hope School District is hoping locals will get in the swing and join them at Glen Annie Golf Course on Friday, May 16th for a day of fundraising, fun and community spirit.

The 9th Annual Golf Classic, presented by the Hope School District Educational Foundation (HSDEF) and Toyota of Santa Barbara, is the foundation’s biggest and most important annual fundraiser. Monies raised from this event help support critical educational programs at Monte Vista, Hope and Vieja Valley Schools.

“The HSDEF was created to address the rising costs and state and federal budget cuts that threaten our children’s educational experience,” says Board President John Kochis. In past years, the Annual Golf Classic has raised an average of twenty thousand dollars. This year, the foundation hopes to triple that amount. “We set an aggressive goal because we believe in our children, our schools, and our community,” Kochis said. The sixty thousand dollars the foundation is striving for would help ensure students at the district’s three schools have continued access to technology, science, art, physical education and music programs.

The Golf Classic kicks off at noon on May 16 at the beautiful Glen Annie Golf Course. Players can sign up as individuals or teams, and sponsorship opportunities are available. Community members are invited to purchase Golf Ball Drop raffle tickets for just ten dollars apiece for a chance to win a Sonos home surround sound system, valued at $1,200.
