BTen: Ekola goes unbeaten; Bishop ousted in playoffs

Spencer Ekola swept his sets to complete an undefeated season, but Bishop Diego was knocked out of the CIF Division 4 tennis playoffs by San Dimas, 11-7, in wild-card match on Tuesday at the Municipal Courts.

Ekola went 42-0 on the season after beating three San Dimas players.

Matt Hammond won two sets in singles as did the doubles team of Dylan Perez and Jose Pacheco.

Bishop finishes the season with a 6-8 record.

“I’m so proud of my team this season,” Bishop coach Debbie Ekola said. I’m very lucky to have such an athletic and talented group of young men. Bishop Tennis finished another season making playoffs. We are a young team and we will come back even stronger next year.”
