Feshbach, Sanchez honored as Athletes of the Week

Natasha Feshbach of Santa Barbara High rose to the occasion in the multi-events competition at the prestigious Arcadia Invitational Track and Field Meet.

Carpinteria’s Mo Sanchez came through for the Warriors on the mound and at the plate in a Frontier League baseball game.

Their performances earned them Athlete of the Week honors at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon.

Feshbach, a sophomore, finished ninth in the heptathlon at Arcadia, scoring a career-best 4,315 points. She set PRs in five events: 100 hurdles (15.26), high jump (5-1.75), 200 meters (25.98), 800 (2:24.84) and javelin (58-7).

Sanchez, a senior, fired a complete-game, three-hit shutout against Villanova. He helped his own cause with two hits, including a two-run homer, in the 3-0 win.

Sanchez also had a RBI hit in a 4-3 win over the Wildcats earlier in the week.

Male athletes receiving honorable mention recognition are Cord Pereira (Santa Barbara High volleyball), Weston Nielson (UCSB volleyball), Albert Hughes (UCSB track and field), Morgan Hale and Ryan Chung (Santa Barbara High tennis), Gustavo Bello (Santa Barbara High track and field) and Corey McDown (SBCC volleyball).

The female honorable mention choices include Lani Evans (Dos Pueblos softball), Stamatia Scarvelis (Dos Pueblos track and field), Tori Tsolis (UCSB track and field) and Gabriela McDaniel and Kenzie Usher (SBCC tennis).
