Former Dos Pueblos water polo stars struck it big in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation postseason awards.
Sami Hill led UCLA to the MPSF Tournament final.
Sami Hill, a junior goalie at UCLA, was named the MPSF Women’s Water Polo Player of the Year; Stanford junior Kiley Neushul was selected to the conference’s first team for the third straight year, and Stanford’s Jamie Neushul — Kiley’s sister — was named to the All-Newcomer team.
The Neushuls helped Stanford win the MPSF Tournament championship. The Cardinal defeated UCLA in the final, 6-5.
Stanford and UCLA are seeded 1 and 2, respectively, for next weekend’s (May 9-11) NCAA Tournament at USC.
Hill ranked second in the conference in goals allowed (5.05) and saves (10.09) per game. The Bruin goalie stopped 23 shots in the MPSF Tournament, including 10 against Stanford in the championship game. Last year, she shattered the single season school record by making 320 saves. Hill has earned an MPSF award in each of her three seasons: in 2011 she was voted to the all-newcomer squad and in 2013, she earned second-team honors.
Kiley Neushul leads Stanford with 46 goals and averages two per game.
Jamie Neushul scored 20 goals during her freshman year and made her presence felt on the defensive end with key field blocks on the perimeter.
All three players won CIF titles at Dos Pueblos.
