BVB: Shorthanded Owls sweep Calvary Chapel

Laguna Blanca survived the long drive to Downey with a sweep of Calvary Chapel in a non-league boys volleyball match on Friday. The set scores were 25-9, 25-13, 25-19.

The Owls (13-3) made the trip without their starting middle and outside hitter, but other players stepped up. Ethan Katnic had seven kills and five digs and Andrew Vignolo put away eight kills. Pierce O’Donnell played solid in the back row, picking up 31 digs.

“We made the best of the experience,” said Laguna coach Dillan Bennett.

The Owls play at Cate in Condor League match on Wednesday.
