BTen: Sluggish Warriors fall to Thacher

Carpinteria’s tennis team came out sluggish in its first match after spring break and suffered a 16-2 loss to Thacher in a non-league match.

“We played one of our most lethargic matches of the year,” Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant said. “I was planning on this being a close match and it was for a while. We had quite a few close sets that could have swung our way early that might have influenced the rest of the match but they instead went in the Toads favor. So give them credit for winning the tight battles. But I was a little concerned how quickly we ran out of gas and did not finish on a strong note, win or lose.”

Jonathan Cleek won both his singles sets for the Warriors’ only points.

Carpinteria is now 6-6 overall.
