Cate went 8-1 in singles en route to an 11-7 tennis win over Santa Ynez in a battle of top-five teams in CIF Division. 4. Santa Ynez is fourth and Cate is No. 5 in the polls.
“Our singles players were efficient and effective through all three rounds of match play,” Cate coach Bob Bonning said.
Kevin Ha and Jason Xiao swept their three sets at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
“Christian Herman stole the show, winning two of three sets, including a very fine win against the highly regarded No. 1 Pirate,” said Bonning.
Cate’s doubles line-up was anchored by Michael Revord and Jack Hoover who swept three sets (6-3, 6-4, 6-0).
Cate improves to 7-4 on the season
