TRK: Aldapa, Schroeder among best at Mt. Carmel Invite

San Marcos’ track & field team traveled to San Diego over the weekend making its first appearance at the Mt. Carmel Invitational.

Adilene Aldapa came in third in the D1 3200 meters with a personal best of 11 minutes and three seconds (11:03.11), which is the second-fastest all-time for a San Marcos athlete in the event. Aldapa finished behind Simi Valley’s Sarah Baxter and Northwood’s Bethan Knights. Baxter – the reigning CIF State champion in the event – and Bethans tied with equal times of 10:07.52.

“It was the most exciting two-mile race I’ve ever seen,” said Royals head coach Marilyn Hantgin.
