PBB: Royals win tourney opener on a walk-off hit

Sean Nakano-West stroked a bases-loaded hit in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift San Marcos to a 2-1 baseball victory over the Colorado Gators in an opening game at the Chris Moon Memorial Cherry Field Classic in Tucson, Ariz.

Shortstop Wes Ghan-Gibson, who was 4-4 on the day, led off the 7th with a single to center. First baseman Parker Rozenburg followed it up with a base hit and catcher Derek Zylstra laid down a bunt for a base hit, loading the bases for Nakano-West. Nakano-West, who scored in the second inning, stayed hot and stroked the game winner to right field. He went 3-4 at the plate.

Senior Nathan Kim threw a complete game, giving up one run on two hits in a pitcher’s duel Tuesday morning.  Kim (2-2), struck out five.
