BVB: Raphael’s play sparks DP over Oxnard

Setter Mark Raphael dished out 28 assists and added four kills, sparking Dos Pueblos to a sweep over visiting Oxnard in a non-league boys volleyball match on Wednesday. The set scores were 25-20, 25-22, 25-21.

It was the first win for new head coach Ehren Hug.

Hug was impressed with the play of Raphael.

“Mark is a very smart setter and adapts to situations in the game extremely well,” he said.

Matt Sessler led DP in kills with five on six attempts, and Kurtis Randmaa added five on eight attempts.

Hug praised the passing of Logan Kovarick

“The boys were playing loose and having a good time, hustling on every play,” Hug said. “As a coach, it was a very pleasing victory but we can’t wait to get back in the gym tomorrow and prepare for Arroyo Grande on Tuesday.”
