Prime-time playoff performances earn Lilly, Heiduk Athlete of the Week honors

This week’s Santa Barbara Athlete Round Table Athlete of the Week award winners helped their respective teams advance in the CIF playoff games.

Bishop Diego girls basketball player Jordyn Lilly and Tim Heiduk of the Dos Pueblos boys soccer team made the plays to keep their season’s going.

Lilly scored 38 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had five assists in Bishop’s 64-44 first-round 5AA victory over Downey-Calvary Chapel. She followed that with a 24-point, 11-rebound effort in a 54-26 road win at Silver Valley in Yermo.

The Cardinals play a quarterfinal game Tuesday against Pasadena Poly at the SBCC Sports Pavilion.

Heiduk stepped up and scored two goals on set pieces to lead Dos Pueblos to a 2-1 win over Chino Hills in the first round of the CIF Division 1 boys soccer playoffs. Both goals came on headers. Heiduk, a central midfielder, is a force in the air for the Chargers.

Dos Pueblos plays its second-round match on Tuesday at Palos Verdes.

The AOW honorable mention choices for boys are Zalmico Harmon (UCSB basketball) Cameron Cox (Dos Pueblos wrestling), Peter Kwock (Bishop Diego basketball), James Herb (SBCC track), Tyler Gilbert (SBCC baseball) and Alex Bush (Westmont baseball).

The honorable choices for girls are Kristina Garcia (Santa Barbara High water polo) Jill Giannini (Bishop soccer), Clair Watkins (UCSB basketball) and Andrea Ward (UCSB swimming).
