Cate had its six-game winning streak in girls water polo snapped by Oaks Christian, 4-3, on Friday in a Tri-Valley League game.
“Everything seemed to go wrong for Cate, as the offense dried up,” said coach Nathan Alldredge.
The Rams (10-2, 7-2) shot 3 of 26 and couldn’t find their way past the Lions star goalie. They were 0-for-6 on power plays and also missed a penalty shot.
Senior Sophia Soriano (2 goals) had a counterattack and put back to lead the scoring. Senior co-captain Caroline Montgomery scored the additional goal.
Defensively, Cate held Oaks Christian to only seven shots on the afternoon.
“It was a hugely disappointing loss that seemed very out of character for the Rams, who had been on a roll with a six game winning streak,” said Alldredge.
