Corona del Mar’s advantage in power-play goals led it to an 8-5 girls water polo win over Santa Barbara in the quarterfinals of the Southern California Championships in Irvine.
“We went 3-for-8 on six on fives and Corona del Mar went 4-for-6 and scored a penalty shot,” said Santa Barbara coach Mark Walsh.
Anna Brummett had two goals and drew three ejections and Kristina Garcia scored a goal and earned two ejections for the Dons, who play San Marcos on Saturday.
