Carpinteria fell short in its comeback against Malibu and suffered an 8-6 loss in a Tri-Valley League girls water polo game on Wednesday.
The Warriors trailed 5-1 at halftime but rallied in the third period, cutting the deficit to two, 6-5.
“After a rough first half defensively, we were able to regroup and had a great third quarter to get us back in the game,” Carpinteria coach Bryan Swarm said. “Unfortunately, our leading scorer fouled out early in the fourth and we just did not have enough fire power to complete the come back.”
Sierra Garibay scored four goals to lead the Warriors (7-16, 1-6). Goalie Joanna Hipple playd a strong second half and finished with 10 saves.
