Nordhoff scored on a rebound with four seconds left to beat Carpinteria, 11-10, a Tri-Valley League girls water polo finale on Thursday.
Carpinteria goalie Joanna Hipple blocked a shot but the ball went right to Nordhoff’s center and shut put it away for the game winner.
Brenda Rodriguez had a big game for the Warriors, scoring seven goals. Hipple made 10 saves.
“We are a young team, with two sophomore starters,” Carpinteria coach Bryan Swarm said. “Brenda Rodriguez is one of them and she is starting to understand the game.
“It was a great growth year for us,” he added. “With some dedication to train in the off season, we should be much better next year.”
Carpinteria finishes at 8-18 overall and 2-6 in the TVL.
