Jill Giannini scored two goals, leading Bishop Diego’s girls soccer team to a 2-0 win over Firebaugh in a CIF Division 6 first-round playoff game in Lynwood on Friday.
Giannini scored in the 38th and 49th minutes. Judith Angulo assisted on one of the goals.
“We really came out strong and wanting the win,” Bishop coach Tessa Binkley said. “We were consistent throughout the game at winning the ball and connecting passes. We are very proud of the girls and can’t wait to play at home on Wednesday.”
Bishop (13-5-2 overall) will play host to top-seeded Citrus Valley in a second round match.
