Matthew Eaton scored 19 points to lead four players in double figures, and Providence went on a fourth-quarter surge to score a 77-54 win at Shandon in a CIF Division 6 boys basketball first-round playoff game on Wednesday.
The Patriots advance to a second-round game at Joshua Springs on Friday.
Providence roared out to 32-16 halftime lead, but Shandon battled back behind Cicero Goddard. He scored 20 of his 36 points in a 29-15 third quarter to bring the Outlaws back within two, 47-45.
The Patriots regrouped In the fourth quarter and outscored Shandon 30-9 to earn the victory.
Ricky Beebe and Erik Sheets each scored 16 points, and Asher Luberto added 12 points. Luberto and Sheets each made four 3-pointers.
