San Marcos erupted for 11 goals in the second half and outscored The Bishops School of La Jolla, 15-12, in an intersectional girls water polo match on Friday at the Royals’ pool.
“This is the best second half from the Royals all season,” said San Marcos coach Chuckie Roth.
San Marcos trailed 6-4 at halftime before its offense took control of the match. Riley Heiduk and Paige Hauschild led the attack with five goals apiece.
“Riley Heiduk had a phenomenal performance today in our win, she really created some scoring opportunities,” Roth said. “She is one of our captains and shows great leadership in all avenues of life and athletics.”
Hailey Gellert scored three goals, Kate Coski had two and Megan Bergthold and Brittany Prentice tallied one apiece. Goalie Jenna Phreaner made six saves.
San Marcos (7-2) returns to Channel League play on Thursday at home against Dos Pueblos.
