Betsy Hendrix gave Santa Barbara High’s girls water polo team its only lead of the game in the fourth period, and the Dons hung on to defeat Dos Pueblos, 5-4, in their final regular season home game on Thursday.
Jessie Brummett tied the score and Hendrix scored the eventual game-winner on a 6-on-5 situation. Hendrix and Jessica Gaffney each scored two goals for the Dons.
DP goalie Britten Vilander played a stellar game. She had saves on four Santa Barbara power plays and blocked a penalty shot.
Santa Barbara won despite turning the ball over 20 times.
Dons coach Mark Walsh praised Erin McGeory for the defensive effort on Stanford-bound Shannon Cleary.
