Maddie Becker’s first-half goal stood up on Saturday in Cate’s 1-0 victory over Vasquez.
Jasmine Paz set up Becker’s game-winner by getting the ball to Becker through traffic inside the penalty area.
“There was a robust celebration following this goal; it was not only our first goal of the game, but also our first goal of the season,” said Cate head coach Lisa Holmes.
Goalkeeper Emma Liberman kept the shutout intact with a tough save late in the game.
