Jack Baker scored 18 points, grabbed 19 rebounds and blocked nine shots in Santa Barbara’s win over Ventura.

Jack Baker finished one blocked shot from recording a triple-double, leading Santa Barbara High to a 66-63 Channel League boys basketball win over visiting Ventura on Wednesday night.

Baker, who went scoreless in the Dons’ last game against Dos Pueblos, had 18 points, 19 rebounds and nine blocks. Isaiah Tapia was the team’s high scorer with 20 points, with 18 coming off 3-pointers.

“Tonight was a very balanced game for the Dons,” assistant coach Andy Gil said. “Ten players contributed with big minutes and we got some big rebounds by sophomore forward Ben Clay.”

Santa Barbara, ranked third in CIF-SS Division 3A, improves to 16-2 overall and 6-0 in league

Gil pointed out the defensive work of Chris Wagonhurst and Eli Hale on Ventura’s top player, Dustin Houck.

The game was close all the way. Bubby Vernon sealed the win for Santa Barbara with a pair of free throws late in the game.
