WRS: Martinez wins second championship for DP

Eden Martinez won his second wrestling tournament of the season on Saturday by pinning Pioneer Valley’s John Villareal in the championship of the 152-pound division.

Martinez headlined five Dos Pueblos wrestlers competing on the second day of the Bash, a tournament hosted by Righetti High School at West Hills Community College.

Martinez won the title by winning four matches, three by pin.

Martinez and Villareal met in the final of the Pete Duca Invitational two weeks ago, with Martinez capturing his first championship by decision. This time, Martinez pinned Villareal in four minutes, 21 seconds.

Dos Pueblos’ Cameron Cox placed fourth in the 126-pound division.

The Chargers travel to the Nogales Tournament next weekend, then open up Channel League competition at Ventura on Thursday, January 9
