Sophia Soriano scored seven goals, and Cate came back from a two-goal deficit and pulled out 12-11 win over Santa Ynez in a thrilling non-league girls water polo game on Wednesday.
The game featured eight lead changes.
“It was a true team effort, but Sophia Soriano had a monster game,” said Cate coach Nathan Alldredge of his two-meter player. “She was seemingly all over the pool at once.”
Caroline Montgomery and Chloe King each scored two goals.
Alldredge lauded the play of Sophie Maes. “Her tight defense inspired the team all game long,” he said.
Cate goes into its winter break with a 3-0 record. They open Tri-Valley League play on Jan. 10 against Malibu.
